Happiness, What it is and What it Isn’t


Happiness is a wonderful and fulfilling state of being we all strive for. It is a positive emotion because it is contentment and a sense of well-being. Happiness can differ for each person, as it is subjective and can vary based on individual experiences, values, and goals. It can come from various sources, such as meaningful relationships, pursuing passions and interests, achieving personal goals, and experiencing purpose and fulfillment in life. Ultimately, happiness is about finding inner peace and satisfaction, which can be found in big and small moments of our everyday lives.

While it is natural for everyone to experience various emotions, including happiness, it is important to acknowledge that always feeling happy is not realistic or attainable. Happiness is a complex and dynamic emotion that fluctuates depending on external circumstances, internal state of mind, and individual differences.

For example, people lose loved ones, become ill, lose jobs, and experience various unfortunate events. Satisfaction with life is about embracing the full spectrum of human emotions and finding resilience and contentment amidst life’s challenges.
